Titanesk typeface
Description
This typeface was exhibited at Typostammtisch in Berlin, Germany in 2024. Trial version 1.2 is available upon request. Titanesk is inspired by the shape of the “unsinkable” transatlantic ship, the Titanic. Growing up in Normandy, I discovered its story through Cherbourg and became fascinated by its journey from construction to its first and final voyage. Visiting the official Titanic Museum later revealed the ship’s typographic details on tickets, menus, and currency. The typeface reflects the contrast between the elegance of the ship’s interior and the robustness of its industrial structure. From waves to the dark sea, it includes italics to extrablack weights with swash alternates, capturing the ship’s spirit through serifs, arches, and a sense of movement. This typeface celebrates a journey that continues: “What was once unsinkable has now become unforgettable.”
